Dennis George Ray, 64, of White City, died Jan. 17, 2011.
He was born in Medford to George and Bettymae Ray, on Mar. 25, 1946, and spent the majority of his life in Jackson County.
As a teen he was involved with teen square dancers and called square dances for a number of years. He was a member of the Crater Chapter of the Future Farmers of America, a past member of Central Point Rotary, Central Point Jaycees, Jackson County 4-H Leaders Association and Jackson County Cattleman’s Association. He loved to spend summers swimming and fishing.
He graduated from Crater High School in 1964 and briefly attended Oregon State University. His work life included time as a surveyor, managing Mid-Cave Meat Packing, driving a school bus, a home improvement associate and driver for Roto Rooter. He retired in 2009.
In 1968, he married Jeri Gardner, They had two children, Tim and Shelley. They later divorced and in 1995 he married Faye Albright Reeser.
He is survived by his wife, Faye; children, Tim (Krista) Ray, of Dallas, Ore., and Shelly (Jeff) Rickman, of Hillsboro, Ore., three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Niemi, of Lebanon, Ore. And Georgia Mae Georg, of Albany, Ore.
A memorial service will be held at Table Rock Fellowship, 3610 N. Pacific Hwy., on Saturday, Mar. 26, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow.
