A county-wide, public Flood Insurance Fair is being held Mar. 29, from 3-7 p.m. at the Medford Armory. The Fair comes in advance of the FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) changes which will be effective throughout Jackson County on May 3, 2011.
Preferred Risk Flood Insurance Policies and Grandfathering may be available for properties required to obtain flood insurance based on the revised FIRMs. In some situations, optimal savings can only be obtained when flood insurance is purchased and effective prior to the map adoption date of May 3, 2011.
Representatives from numerous local Insurance Companies will be on-hand to discuss Flood Insurance policies.
The Fair is sponsored by Jackson County, the Rogue Valley Council of Governments, the International Code Council, Ashland, Central Point, Eagle Point, Gold Hill, Jacksonville, Medford, Rogue River, Shady Cove and Talent.
Eagle Point residents with questions may direct them to Bunny Lincoln, Eagle Point Planner, at 541-826-4212 (ext. 111) firstname.lastname@example.org .
