Few applicants for boards as March 17 deadline nears

Very few have filed for board of director positions in area school districts and fire districts as of 5 p.m. Friday, Mar.11.  The filing deadline is Thursday, Mar. 17 at 5 p.m. for the May election A summary of positions and candidates includes:

Rogue Community College- Northeast Jackson County- 4 yr. term, incumbent Pat Ashley, Eagle Point,  is a candidate.

Southern Oregon Education Service District- Lynn Corwin, currently serving on the board, is a candidate for the 4 yr. term. He would represent School Districts 9, 59 and 91.

Butte Falls School District- Position 3- Steven Nelson, 4 yr. term. No one has  filed for Position 4,which is also a 4 yr. term.

School District 9- Position 1- 4 yr. term- Incumbent Ted Dole has filed as has Ralph Meeker, both are Eagle Point residents.

For Position 4, Raygina Sizemore, Eagle Point, has filed for the 4 yr. position.

Prospect District 59 has three, 4 yr. positions open and no one has filed for any of those openings.

Fire District 3 has positions 1, 3 and 5 open. They are each 4 yr. terms. James Gillin, incumbent, has filed for position 3.

Fire District 4 has three 4 yr. terms available. They are positions 1,4 and 5 and no one has filed for any of those seats.

Lake Creek Volunteer Fire has positions 1, 2 and 4 open. Ron Fumasi has filed for the 4 yr. position 1 seat. No one has filed for the other two seats, Position 2 is 4 yr. and position 4 is a 2 yr. term.

Prospect Rural Fire has two 4 yr. terms available and Esther and Jack Brown wish to continue serving.

Rogue Valley Sewer has three 4 yr. terms and three candidates. They are Robert Dunn, Kay Harrison and Bill Stults.
