John D. Love, 64, of Eagle Point, died Mar.6, 2011, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Portland, Ore., on Jan. 30, 1947, to James and Lily Love. The family moved to Bend in 1960. Mr. Love graduated from Bend High School in 1965 and attended Central Oregon Community College as a mechanics student.
In 1967, he joined the Redmond National Guard and the following year he married the love of his life, Sherry Perry. The two of them met in junior high school. They lived in Bend until moving to the Rogue Valley in 1971, He began his construction business in 1973 and later that year they began their family. He retired from his business in 2008.
He was an avid outdoorsman and was a proud member of the NRA. He loved to hunt and fish. He taught his children to love the outdoors as much as he did. He also passed on to his children his extensive knowledge and love of mechanics. The family spent many great times together exploring the Oregon coast dues (where he was known as Wrong Way John), rafting the Rogue and snowmobiling in the mountains.
He was an amazing and loving husband, father and “Papa” to his five grandchildren. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 43 years, Sharon; his son, John M. Love (Paula); daughter Jaime Love LaRance (Rick); five grandchildren; a brother, Ron (Patty); and sister, Sue Korth (Don ).
Family and friends will come together to celebrate his life on Saturday, Mar. 19, at 1 p.m. at John and Sharon’s home in Eagle Point.
