Southern Oregon Sanitation has made a major investment in equipment that the community will start to see soon.
They have purchased one new and two used front loader disposal trucks. Their size is a bit intimidating at 15 ft. 6 in. in height.
Those customers with big dumpsters have been contacted about changing from their current units to new plastic or metal containers. In some cases they will not have a choice because of the product they generally dispose.
The new equipment will mean just one trip to the landfill which will be a savings in fuel and time, as well as wear and tear on equipment.
Southern Oregon Sanitation customers will be able to sign up to have yard debris picked up. The service will be on alternate weeks, the same day as your regular service. There will be new lime-green 95-gallon carts used for this purpose. Items up to two inches in diameter and 48 in. in length, along with the normal grass clippings, weeds, and leaves will be accepted. Please note, all items must fit inside the container. The lid must be able to close completely.
With this change there will no longer be a program to take glass. However, glass can be taken to Southern Oregon Sanitation’s office at Hwy. 62 and Ball Road or to the Rogue Disposal Transfer Station on Kirkland Road.
Debris cost will be $6.20 a month, with a one year commitment. The new debris carts will be delivered starting Apr. 18 with the debris collection starting the week of Apr. 25. There is a coupon on an ad elsewhere in this edition or call 541-826-5691 for more information.
