Student hits bulls-eye

Brenna Blankenship, an eighth grader student at Shady Cove Middle School, not only has a 4.0 grade point average, she has the distinction of having been awarded the “Youth Bow Hunter of the Year” award. In addition, Brenna won the “Trophy Black Tail Deer for 2010″ award at the Oregon Bow Hunter’s Association’s annual awards and archery competition that was held in Lincoln City, OR on the weekend of February 26-27th.

To top off the weekend, she won 1st place in the indoor archery competition– “Youth/Female Bow Hunting Freestyle” and set a new state record in that event.

Brenna also belongs to the 4H Bow Hunters Club and in last year’s competition won 1st place in her division and second in the state overall.  She is looking forward to entering this event again this year.

She is the daughter of Alan and Myrna Blankenship, of Trail and a proud grandmother, Jere Plumer.
