The Eagles met with 27 other track teams at the annual Crater Classic Track Meet Saturday April 16th. Teams came from as far away as Lake Oswego. The weather was better than what’s been experienced for most of the Spring, except when it came to the 3000m run. The clouds opened up and Tyler Van Dyke had to battle the elements as well as a large talented field. Tyler dropped 15 seconds off his previous best with a second place finish in 9:10.69a. His run definitely moved him into contention for the state meet.
Garrett Snow placed 3rd in the javelin with a season best 167’ 2”. Garrett’s throw was the highest finish by a 5A javelin thrower. Aaron Foster ran a season best of 42.78a in the 300H. Sophomore Caleb Ash ran personal best in the 100m(11.83a) and 200m(24.14a).
Frosh Cody Bohenkamp improved to 11’ in the pole vault. Triple jumper Zach Reed inproved his season best to 38’11”.
For the girls, sprinters Cassie Boykin(13.21a) and Jaazmin Arnspiger(13.26a) both ran their season best 100m. Kaylee Tuttle three stepped in the 100H and ran a season best in the 300H(55.64). Solid freshman Kim Simpson turned in a 66.65a in the 400m. Corrie Culpepper took 6th in the Sot Put with 33’10”.
