Matthew R. Falcy grew up loving the forests, mountains and rivers of Oregon. Graduating in 1993 at EPHS as class president, he went on to UC Santa Clara for two years. He transferred to UC Davis and graduated with a B. S. in Biological Sciences.
Falcy then entered the Peace Corps. He spent two years in Nicaragua, working on an active volcano. He also contracted dengue fever twice. After his service, he returned to Trail, Oregon, for a bit before moving to Portland to attend Portland State University. There he graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Management.
From Portland he spent a month in Guatemala visiting Peace Corps friends. He then went to Chile, attended the University of Chile, Santiago, graduating with his second M.S. degree, this one in Forest Sciences.
From the mountains of Chile, Falcy moved to the flat corn fields of the Midwest. He entered a Ph. D. program at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. In the summer of 2007, he married Lucy Wilkinson, of Portland. He graduated with his Ph. D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with a minor in Statistics. He is employed by Oregon Dept. of Fish & Wildlife as Oregon’s Fish Conservation Biologist. Matthew is the son of Barbara and Larry Falcy, Trail.
