Will, as he is better known by family and friends, served in the Navy and went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from The College of the Pacific and a Master’s degree from San Jose State University. He spent his career as an educator in the San Jose Unified School District and retired in 1987.
He and his wife Kathryn retired to Shady Cove, Ore., in 1994. He was a member of the Shady Cove Moose Lodge, a member of the Masonic Lodge of Sunnyside, Wash., and a life member of the Elk’s Lodge. Will and Kathryn enjoyed many years of traveling across the United States in their motorhome with their family and their cat Spook. He loved wood working, fishing, boating, traveling, rafting, and his view of the Rogue River. He believed in his country and passionately pursued honor and truth within his own community and the issues that it faced.
Will is survived by his wife Kathryn, his sister Nadyne Sessions, his niece Rene Youngblood (Marc), and his children David Hardy, Duncan Harrod (Karen), Suzanne Dickinson (Richard), and Cindy Adkins. He has 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Services will be held at St. Martins Episcopal Church in Shady Cove, at noon on April 12, 2011. Reception immediately following from 1:00 – 3:00 at the Shady Cove Moose Lodge.
