Employee of year no longer Prospect secret

There are no secrets in Prospect any more. Well, maybe a few but not that involve the Prospect School Board. The Oregon School Boards Association advised that even their secret ballot for Employee of the Year could not be voted on in secret. And so, in advance of the honor, the Employee of the Year was announced publicly at last week’s school board meeting.

And, the 2010-2011 Employee of the Year is Linda Alexander. She is the middle school social studies and science teacher and the wife of Superintendent Don Alexander. She will be honored at the Awards Banquet, May 24.

The board appointed William “Gunner” Gibson, owner of the Prospect Café & Trophy Room, to fill the vacancy on the board. They hired Lacy Manning for the receptionist and front desk duties. This position was held by Marci Gallagher. And they accepted the resignation of third grade teacher Liz Edie.

Several board policies were reviewed and revised, including some dealing with the business office.

Darin May was named baseball coach and Don Alexander will assist. May has been the assistant coach for a couple of years.

Prospect High School graduation is Friday, May 27 at 8 p.m. The middle school ceremony is June 1 at 7 p.m.
