Bridget Collins

Bridget Collins  passed away May 28, 2011 in her home.  She was born July 5, 1920 in Bawnmore, County Waterford to Catherine (Kiely) Griffin and John Griffin.
On January 6, 1949 Bridget and her brother Jim Griffin arrived in Plush, Oregon to work at the Kiely Ranch.  It was the first time they had seen snow.  It was one of the coldest days in history! While attending an Irish dance, she met her future husband, John Collins.  They were wed in 1954.  She raised four daughters in Lakeview, OR.  In 1982, she joined her husband living in various places within Washington and Oregon.  They settled in Shady Cove in 1998.

She enjoyed canning and gardening.   She was famous for her applesauce muffins and love of flowers.  Bridget touched many hearts with her warm laugh, smiling Irish eyes, soft pat of her hand and warm heart.

Bridget was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Willie, Jim and Sean; sisters Mary and Kitty.

Bridget is survived by husband, John Collins; daughters Kathleen Collins and Eileen Collins of Shady Cove; Nora Collins of Dundee, OR;  Bridget(Breda) Ardissono and son-in-law Bob Ardissono of Bothell, WA; grandsons Amos Collins of Vancouver, WA; Levi Collins of Portland, OR; Johnny and Bobby Ardissono of Bothell, WA and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Shady Cove, OR on Thursday, June 2nd at 10 am with a reception to follow. There will be praying the rosary at 9:30 before the mass.  The burial will be on Friday, June 3rd at 2 p.m. at  Sunset Cemetery in Lakeview, OR.  A luncheon reception will be held at the Freemont Inn, 524 North G Street, Lakeview.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Renovation Fund for Our Lady of Fatima church, Catholic Charities or a charity of your choice.
