“Family is more important to me,” said Jeff Bailey as he missed graduating with his class at Prospect High School to be at the side of his mother, Sherry Bailey, who had been rushed to the hospital just before the graduation ceremony.
Jeff has struggled with academics from time to time, but he was determined to reach his goal and that was to graduate with his class and to receive his high school diploma.
Once Sherry was home, it was time for family to show Jeff just how important he was to the family. And last Sunday with Pomp & Circumstance playing in the background, Jeff Bailey in his cap and gown, marched across the lawn at the home of his grandparents, Roger and Diane Hays, and received his 2011 high school diploma.
Balloons fluttered in the afternoon breeze, a few tears were shed, even some of Jeff’s junior high school teachers came to witness the moment as Board of Director member Dale Bliss handed Jeff the all important proof of his graduation, a signed diploma from Prospect High School.
Jeff will be entering the U.S. Army in the near future. But for him and his family, graduation 2011 will be a lasting and very special memory.
