What is the most common gift given dear old dad this Sunday? Word has it that it is a tie. Just to be sure you don’t fail dad or granddad, Shady Kate in Shady Cove is holding the 3rd annual Tie Days RiverFest. The celebration is on Saturday, June 18 starting at 11 a.m. and continuing up and down the river and at Shady Kate’s, at the end of town where you’ll see all the ties hanging in a tree.
Events will be varied including a variety of music at different locations in town and along the banks of the Rogue. There will be chain saw carving at Shady Kate’s from 9-2 p.m., a BBQ at the RV Park and an ugly tie contest.
At a time that is being kept secret, the mayor of Shady Cove, Ron Holthusen, and the mayor of Eagle Point, Bob Russell, will have a pie eating contest. Well known Trail resident. Bonnie Pech, has offered to bake one of her specialties for the occasion. Place your bets and maybe donations will go to the Boys & Girls Club, even that seems to be a secret between these two who should remember secrecy in government is not good.
Joni Harms will be the featured performer from 5:30-8:30 on the grounds at Shady Kate’s.
