Eleanor Jossy, 93, died, July 28, 2011. She was born Nov. 4, 1917 in Coquille. She moved to the Klamath Falls area with her parents, Boyd and Belva (Pinkston) Bruner.
Eleanor attended what was then Oregon State College.
She attended Oregon State College where she met Earle Jossy. In 1939 they began 46 years of married life together. When he became Agricultural Extension Agent in Jackson County, they acquiring a forty-acre farm near Eagle Point. Eleanor was to live on that farm for the next 58 years.
She was a member of Eagle Point Home Extension , Grange and Garden Club. She supported 4-H and Eagle Point PTA.
After Earle’s death she managed the family farm, and took his seat on the Rogue River Irrigation District Board.
She loved fishing, camping, golf and cross country skiing. She continued to ride until age 85.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Harriet and Mary and brother Louis Alden. She is survived by son Fred (Almuht) Jossy, of Edmonds, WA; daughter Karen (John) Lang, of Powell Butte, OR; and son Andy Jossy of Medford; grandchildren Jeff (Gayle) Brandt, Lori (Bill) Durling, Heidi (Mike) Monson, Christopher Jossy and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held, Aug. 4 in Bend, Oregon. Memorial contributions may be made to Partners in Care, 2075 NE Wyatt Court, Bend, Oregon 97701, or your favorite charity.
