Diana L. Daniel, of Eagle Point, was surrounded by loved ones when she died Oct. 13, 2011 at her home. She was born on Nov. 27, 1946, in Oakland, Calif.
Inspired by a childhood teacher, she dedicated her life to the development of young children. She received her teaching certificate at St. Mary’s College in California. She moved to Jacksonville and began a long standing career in the Jackson county Head Start program, retiring in 2009. Diana was changing the world one child at a time, and the impact is too big to measure. The ripple effect will be felt for generations to come.
Diana is survived by her brothers, John, James and William Daniel,; sisters, Mary Peterson and Patricia Seymour; son, Kenneth Wayne Mattos, Jr; daughter, Sandra Jean McLaughlin, one grandson and a great-grandson, as well as her long time companion, Robert Kelton; his children, Brenda and Christina and three granddaughters, whom she loved dearly.
Diana was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Mattos; mother, Roberta Jean Curry and her father, Jack Daniel.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held ast the Community Hall in Ashland on Nov 6 at 3 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Children’s Advocacy Center.
