Kenneth N. Amundson, 92, of Shady Cove, died Oct. 3, 2011, at home.He was born May 8, 1919 in Forbes, Minn. He had three sisters and three brothers.
He helped his father on the farm for several years before moving to California with a brother when he was 21 years of age.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was on the front line in Italy when he was wounded. He received the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged.
He married Bertha in 1945. She preceded him in death in 1997.
Ken joined the Phoenix First Presbyterian Church in 1998, where he met and married his present wife, LaVon, in 2004.
He enjoyed fishing and building birdhouses and other things. He also loved to cook.
In addition to his wife, LaVon; he is survived by a sister, Letty, of Front Royal, Va.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Kenneth N. Amundson was held Oct. 8 at the first Presbyterian Church in Phoenix, Ore. Arrangements by Perl Funeral Home.
