The Butte Falls Speech and Debate Team entered nine students in the Medford Speech Meet on Sat., Nov. 19. Nine schools participated in the tournament.
Coach Marcia Stewart-Warren announced that a number of Butte Falls students received awards at the invitational. Junior Trisha Henagin placed third in Varsity Humorous Interpretation. Junior Amber Poirier received a third place medal in Novice Dramatic Interpretation. Junior Kristen Shafer placed second in Varsity Prose Reading. Freshman Jade Blaydes earned first place in Novice Dramatic Interpretation. Junior Michaela Langston placed third in Varsity Radio Commentary and second in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
Langston also earned second place at the Rogue Valley Student Congress at North Medford High School in October and third place at the Student Congress on Nov. 10 at Grants Pass High School.
Coach Warren extends her congratulations to all of the participants and announced that the next scheduled speech tournament will be in January at Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR.
