Violence in Ashland and Shady Cove

Thanksgiving week in the Rogue Valley was marred with two homicides and one suicide.  The deaths occurred where one does not see such activity on any kind of a regular basis. David Michael Grubbs, 23, of Ashland, was found diseased  on the bike path at Hunter’s Park in Ashland on around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov, 19.  He was employed at Shop ‘n Kart and often walked to his apartment along the bike path. His parents are Ashland residents.

On Tuesday, Nov. 22 a Shady Cove man and woman died in the 20000 block of Hwy 62.

Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies received a call about 2 a.m. saying gun shots had been heard. Upon their arrival they found a person deceased in the residence. They could not locate a possible suspect and called in the sheriff’s SWOT team as well Oregon State Police and Eagle Point Police.

Makiala Lynn Upton, 30, and DeWayne  Garrett Upton, 36, were both found diseased. Deputies believe a domestic issue lead to the death of the Uptons. The couple had four children.
