A group of interested and concerned citizens is working to put together a new program for the youth of the Shady Cove-Trail, Upper Rogue area. This comes as a result of the closing of the Boys & Girls facility in Shady Cove.
There will be an informative planning meeting at the Upper Rogue Community Center on Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. This is an opportunity for parents and other community members to hear what is being considered and how all ages could be involved. Youth are definitely encouraged to come hear and participate in the discussion.
While this is called a replacement for the Boys & Girls Club that closed last month, the program under consideration will not be the same as the one they ran. Area folks are quite enthused about the potential to provide for their youth, but it will take a community effort to make it successful.
That community effort will involve some caring, dedicated volunteers. Without an expanded group of volunteers the program won’t be possible. If you care about kids, take a little time and attend the meeting Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Upper Rogue Community Center.
