The Upper Rogue Community Center (URCC) and Shady Cove community volunteers are joining hands to integrate the URCC Youth Activities Program and youth programs previously administered by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley.
A Youth Program Town Hall Meeting has been scheduled Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Upper Rogue Community Center, 22465 Hwy. 62, behind Shady Cove City Hall). Discussion will focus on preliminary plans to provide the very valuable resource to the youth of the Upper Rogue area. Topics will focus on the need for community support including volunteer opportunities, funding issues, suggested activities and programs for the youth and other ways community members and parents can assist.
In mid December the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley were forced, because of funding issues, to close the Shady Cove branch. Immediately following the closure concerned community members and board members of the Upper Rogue Community Center, a 501 (c)3 corporation, began discussing ways to provide activities for the communities youth.
Refreshments will be served. Youth are also encouraged to attend. For information, contact Ed Mayer, 541-878-1480 or email Edwincmayer@gmail.com.
