Search warrant on BF Hwy finds about 125 lbs. marijuana

On Dec. 28 at 1:15 pm, MADGE members with the assistance of Jackson County Sheriff’s office patrol executed a drug search warrant at an address in the 10000 block of Butte Falls Hwy., Eagle Point. This address is listed as an Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP) grow site. The investigation began as a result of a routine traffic stop on Dec. 27 in Jackson County, by OSP troopers where 20 pounds of marijuana was located concealed in the vehicle.

As a result of additional investigation from the traffic stop, a search warrant was served.  MADGE members seized approximately 125 pounds of processed “Bud” marijuana, hash, two rifles, and other evidence related to the manufacturing, delivery and possession of marijuana. Based on the investigation, it is alleged the marijuana was a commercial operation far outside of OMMP guidelines. Current street value is estimated at $1,000 per pound (145k) of marijuana in So. Oregon. The value on the East coast or Mid-West could reach $8,000 per pound due to the scarcity of high quality marijuana.

Suspect: Lawrence G. Prentice, 46, 10000 block of BF Hwy. Arrested Jay Parish, 51, 10000 block of BF Hwy for failure to change address for sex offender registration and possession controlled substance methamphetamine, $10,000 bail.

Various Marijuana charges are pending for both suspects pending further investigation.
