URCC making space for youth activities

The board of directors of the Upper Rogue Community Center  unanimously voted to bring youth activities to the center, according to Shady Cove resident Gary Endicott. This action came as a result of the closure Dec. 16 of the Boys & Girls Club, in Shady Cove.

While the devil is in the details, Endicott said they want to let teens know they plan to continue the Keystone and Smart teen groups very soon.

The center expects to use part of the new addition to the center for youth activities and programs.

Donors of the equipment to the Shady Cove Boys & Girls Club were contacted and an agreement was reached on its future disposition. Boys & Girls Club approved a list of items to be kept  in Shady Cove.

The focus for this youth project will be to have a place for youth of all ages, with certain schedules for the various age groups.

Right now the hope is to get a list of volunteers as well as donations.  Scheduling and all of those details will be worked out as time goes. Endicott said “we want youth activities back on track.”

Those wishing to make a donation can send it to Upper Rogue Community Center, P.O. Box 216, Shady Cove, OR 97539. Be sure to mark youth activities on your check.
