At 2:44 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, Medford Police responded to the U.S. Bank located inside Albertson’s at 910 N. Phoenix Rd. in Medford. A male suspect approached the teller and gave a demand note for cash, purporting he planted an explosive device somewhere in the store. The bank employee gave the male suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled the store. Store managers and police conducted a thorough sweep of the store and found no explosive device. A Medford Police K9 unit checked the surrounding area, but was unable to locate the suspect or evidence.
The suspect is described as a white male, late 20’s to early 30’s with dark brown hair, goatee, aviator sunglasses, wearing a tan or white jacket with black or dark trim.
