An Army veteran of WWII, he moved to Oregon five years after his discharge in 1950. He worked in the lumber industry for 40 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Cooper; brother, Andrew; and sisters, Mary and Elizabeth.
He is survived by his wife, Adriana Szpak, White City; sons, Ron (Sharon) Szpak, Mt. Holly, N.C., Kent (Sally) Szpak, Medford, Jerry (Donna) Szpak, Grants Pass; daughter, Lori (John) Cooper, West Columbia, Texas; brothers, John and Frank Szpak, Ansonia, Conn.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held crypt-side Mar. 9 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary. A memorial service followed at First Church of The Nazarene, in Medford.
