Travis Donald Asbill, 29, was arrested at a residence in the 500 block of So. Platt, in Eagle Point, about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 3, as the suspect in a murder case that occurred in Medford.
] On June 3, about 12:47 p.m.. Medford Police were dispatched to a report of an assault victim in the 100 block of Almond St., Medford,.
Date of incident: June 3, 2012 at 12:47 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers and paramedics found the victim inside his apartment suffering from severe head injuries. He was identified as Donald William Mack, 54 years old. Mack lived at the apartment where the assault occurred. He was
transported to Rogue Valley Medical Center by Mercy Flights Ambulance. At 1:34 p.m., Mack was pronounced dead.
Detectives with the Jackson County Major Assault and Death Investigation
Unit (MADIU) were summoned to investigate the homicide. Detectives identified Travis Donald Asbill, 29 years old, as the suspect in this case. A warrant for murder was issued for his arrest.
At about 8:30 p.m. Detectives located the suspect at a residence in the
500 Block of South Platt Street in Eagle Point. With the assistance of the
Jackson County Sheriffs Office and Eagle Point Police, the residence was
surrounded. Asbill exited the residence and was taken into custody
without incident.
Asbill will be lodged for one count of murder, bail: $1,000,000.His Address is listed in the 700 block of Western Ave., Medford. It should
be noted that Asbill is on parole for attempted murder.
Detectives are also attempting to identify and locate additional witnesses
that are believed to be on scene when the murder occurred.
