Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley announced that its Board of Directors has made the very difficult decision to close the White City branch, effective September 1, 2012. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley will continue to provide service for the over 1,200 youth served by its other branches in Talent, Grants Pass and Illinois Valley, and over an additional 4,200 youths that participate in the Sports and Outreach Programs.
Our mission has been and will continue to be serving our communities children by providing a year-round positive, fun and safe place for all kids. We provide programs that help build self esteem and develop skills necessary to make right choices, becoming responsible and productive citizens, especially those who need us most. The White City branch has been an integral part of our organization; however with the decline of donations and community support the Board of Directors has made the decision to close the White City branch.
Richard Smith, President of the Board of Directors states “It is the Board’s fiduciary responsibility to direct our resources so that we can serve as many children as possible with the very best programs and facilities. Financial realities are such that we cannot operate the White City branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley. As a result, we are saddened to close the doors of this Club on September 1, 2012.”
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley recognize that the children in the White City area will need a place to go once the Club is no longer available. Therefore we will work to identify other organizations in the area to transition our members into appropriate alternative programs.
