Fire District #3 to celebrate 60 years

Jackson County Fire District #3 is 60 years old. To celebrate this great milestone the district has put together an event for the public to attend with entertainment for both children and adults.

The district will be doing auto extrication exercises, and high angle rescue demonstrations for folks to watch, there will be several engines for the kids to check out, station tours and for those who want to climb the tower, there will be cookies at the top for a reward.

There will be a history of the district told by past fire chiefs and other retired district members. The district started with volunteers in 1952 because they were essentially told they could not respond to fires in the rural areas of the Upper Rogue. The first fire chief will be on hand to tell the rest of the story of how the district started. This part of the celebration will be about 3pm. Light refreshments will be served.

Along with other activities the district will be launching a new website on Sept. 8th. This website will be cell phone compatible, meaning that someone at the scene of an incident could upload pictures and updates directly, keeping everyone informed up to the minute.

This event will be held Sept. 19, from 2pm to 6pm, at the Fire District #3 Headquarters in White City, 8383 Agate Rd.
