“Fall” themed photo contest at Upper Rogue Independent

Get that camera out and dust it off. It’s time to square off with other photographers and wanna-be’s in the first Upper Rogue Independent photo contest. There will be prizes for winners each of two categories, children under 12 and adults ages 12 and over.

First place in each of the adult and children categories will receive a $25 gift certificate from the Independent, a free haircut from Charla’s Family Barber shop and a free movie rental from Academy Video in Eagle Point. Second place will receive a $15 gift certificate and a haircut from Charla’s Family Barber shop. Third place in both the adult and children categories will receive a $10 gift certificate from the Independent and a free haircut from Charlas’s Family Barber Shop.

Some rules apply, as they do in all contests. The subject of this contest is Fall. Fall foliage, football, soccer, hunting, fall fishing, anything that the judges can tell is clearly a picture depicting Fall. They must be taken in the upper Rogue Valley and they must be current, not taken before the Fall of 2012.

If people appear in the photo, the photographer must have permission to publish their pictures. That permission must be in writing and presented to the Independent at the time the photos are brought in.

The type of camera doesn’t matter, but the photos must be in electronic form and can either be brought to the office on a thumb drive or disk or they can be emailed to editor@urindependent.com and should be clearly marked as photo contest entry.

Only good high quality photos will be considered eligible for the contest. For those with multiple settings on their camera, set the image to be at the medium or high quality level. Photos must be taken by the person submitting them and there is a limit of two photos for each person. There are no entry fees and the images submitted become the property of the Independent.

Photos will be judged by a panel of judges who will look for good quality photos and content and composition. Professional photographers and staff members of the Upper Rogue Independent are not eligible for prizes although they may enter photos for inclusion on the community calendar.

Deadline for photo entries is November 9th by the end of the day. Photo winners will be published in the November 20 total market issue.
