Prospect Volleyball loses for first time this season

Lady Cougars hosted Butte Falls on Sept. 18 and won the match in 3. Halee Hedgpeth led the Cougars with 9 kills.

Prospect loses first match of the season against Hosanna. ( Sept. 21). Scores: 23-25, 23-25, 20-25. Taylor Bernhardt and Heather Lass had 9 kills and 12 blocks each. Lass also added 22 assists.

Sept. 22 : McKenzie RPI 1A – 3A Tournament. The Lady Cougars won the first match of the day against Mapleton and lost their next two matches to St. Paul and Reedsport putting them in 4th place. Stat leaders for the tournament: Heather Lass had 19 kills, Alee Pinkerton had 16 kills and Halee Hedgpeth added 13 kills. Miranda Hedgpeth, Taylor Bernhard, Heather Lass and Alee Pinkerton led in digs all having solid defensive games. Heather Lass had 39 assists and Alee Pinkerton added 10 . Also adding strength at the net were Taylor Reynolds and Lakota Sizemore. Libero Haylee VanWormer did her job well adding 19 digs. Julia Latona and Marissa Raines added a defensive spark coming off the bench when needed. Senior Setter/Right Side Heather Lass was named to the All Tournament Team.

Sept. 28 at Paisley: Prospect wins in 3 ( 25-14, 25-9, 25-13) Strong serving was a key factor in the win. Heather Lass was 24 of 26 from the service line with 9 aces, Taylor Bernhardt and Alee Pinkerton added 5 more combined service aces. Taylor Bernhardt and Miranda Hedgpeth came up with 18 digs each and Haylee VanWormer added 16 digs.

Sept. 29 at Triad: Prospect wins in 3 ( 25-15, 25-12, 25-2). Taylor Bernhardt, Halee Hedgpeth and Heather Lass combined for 12 aces and 43 points from the service line. Miranda Hedgpeth had 22 digs. The Lady Cougars record in league play is 8-1 and for the season they stand at 13-3.

During the month of October, Prospect will host Trinity on Oct. 6, and then travel to Butte Falls on Oct. 9. On Friday, Oct. 12 they entertain Paisley and turn around the following day and travel to North Lake for a 2:15 set (J. V. at 1:15). On the 19th, they travel to Hosanna for a 5:15 p. m. game with the JV team playing an earlier game. On the 20th they host Chiloquin in preparation for the league Tournament on October 26th.
