Eagle Point Middle School’s 7th Grade football team finished up the season with a convincing win over Hanby Middle School in Gold Hill. This capped a strong campaign by the Panthers this season. The Panthers finished 5-2 overall.
The Season started with wins over teams from South and North Grant’s Pass Middle Schools. The team lost to Medford’s Hedrick Middle School. The team recovered nicely by posting two victories at home against Phoenix, and Hanby Middle Schools.
The Panther’s then faced a tough loss away at Ashland. The Panthers played tough in a game punctuated by hard hits by both sides, but did not prevail. The Panthers then completed their season with a victory on the road against Hanby Middle School in Gold Hill.
Some of the many contributors this season included Zack Collins at Quarterback, Dylan Marsh at Running back, Josiah Nigrelli at running back and wide receiver, wide receiver Casey Zakowski, Tight End Kiefer Edwards and Wide Receiver Wyle Clement. The offensive line was a strong point for the Panther this season with offensive guard Shun Talmadge leading a solid group, including Hunter Cantamessa, Jordan Davis, Brandon Thompson and Clayton Froughton.
On defense, the Panther’s had solid play across the board with Nose Tackle Shun Talmadge, and Linebacker/Defensive Tackle Dylan Marsh leading the team on tackles for a loss. Linebackers Zack Collins and Casey Zakowski provided solid play throughout the season. Josiah Nigrelli and Kobey Charlton were also strong at Cornerbacks. Newcomer Dennen Adams took over at Safety and provided strong defensive play. Nathaniel Bull and Dylan Masloski did exceptionally well on special teams.
This is a great group of kids, with many kids playing football for the first time. The Panthers saw great improvement throughout the season, and their coaches are looking forward to having the team back next year.
