Eagle wrestlers send 12 to state tourney

According to a report from Kacey McNulty, wrestling coach at Eagle Point High School, the Eagles qualified 12 for the state tournament later this month. Another great showing by the Eagles in day two of the regional tournament saw 17 of 22 wrestlers placing and the Eagles were a solid finisher in second place.

Team Scores were as follows: Redmond 379, Eagle Point 297 and Churchill finished with 285 team points.

Eagle Point entrants finished as follows: 113 Ivan Valle 6th; 113 Christian Torrico 5th and Qualified for State by winning a wrestle back; 120 Orlando De La Cruz 2nd Qualified for State; 120 Ryan Lorenz 5th;

126 Eddie Perez 3rd Qualified for State; 126 Levi Pomeroy 4th Qualified for State; 132 Alek Callahan 6th; 138 Sherman Hammond 3rd Qualified for State; 138 Nathan Lucas 6th; 145 Ethan Pomeroy 4th Qualified for State; 145 Kaden Crandall 6th; 152 James McCoy 2nd Qualified for State; 152 Thane Baumer 4th Qualified for State; 160 Hunter Hoeptner 1st Regional Champion and Qualified for State; 160 Calab Ash 3rd Qualified for State; 170 Blaine Cloney 4th Qualified for State; 182 Johnny Wilkerson 2nd Qualified For State.

The state tournament will be held in the Portland Memorial Coliseum on Feb. 22-23
