Roy W. Carney went to be with his Lord in his home surrounded by his family on January 25, 2013. Roy was born in Peabody, Kansas on May 20, 1918. He lived a wonderful life with his wife, Reta Loghry Carney, for 50 ½ years. The Carney’s moved to Eagle Point in 2005 to be near their granddaughter Loris Fenner and her family as well as their daughter Lois Myers and her husband Lorin.
Roy enjoyed working in his garage workshop as well as hunting in earlier years, fishing, being on his computer, and watching birds in his yard. Roy has been a Christian for 74 years and was an ordained minister in the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana affiliation. He loved the Lord and was a living example of Christian love to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Roy is survived by his loving wife Reta, his daughter Lois Myers (Lorin) his son Lester (Nahid), grand children Loris Fenner (Jeff), Crystal Persi (Merinda), David Carney, Diane Carney and Mark Myers (Christy). He also leaves behind 8 great grand children and one great great grandson.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents David L. Carney and Ofa Carney, Veleta Marvis, brothers, Lee, Charles, James and sisters Mabel, Mary and Dorothy.
A service was held on Saturday, January 27, 2013 at the New Beginnings Church with Pastor Don Calvert officiating. Burial was carried out in Everett, Washington on Tuesday, January 27, 2013 with his nephew Richard Long and son-in-law, Lorin W. Myers officiating. The family requests that donations be given to Providence Hospice of Medford, Oregon or Access Food Bank of Jackson County in lieu of flowers.
