Eagles win again

Mckenzee Merrill and Teanna Gonzalez combined to pitch a five inning no-hitter as the Eagle Point softball team routed Cascade Christian 17-0 in a high school softball game Thursday at US Cellular Park.

Merrill struck out seven Challengers in three innings, winning her second game of the season. She also drove in four runs with a double and a triple. Gonzalez struck out four batters and had two hits as well.

Paige Leeper drove in four runs with a double and triple of her own and Emily Jeffries added an inside-the-park home run and three rbis.

The Eagles are now 2-0 on the season and travel to Sutherlin Friday, March 15 before returning home Wednesday, the 20th for another game with Sutherlin.
