Prospect Charter School principal resigns

Jennifer Pettit, principal at Prospect Charter School has announced that she will be resigning her position at the end of her contract in June of 2014. According to Superintendent Don Alexander, Pettit has decided to move to a larger city. He also said that reports in another publication of alleged bullying are not true. He did confirm that one of the staff, teacher Jennifer Garner, has resigned effective June 10 of this year.

Alexander defended Pettit, saying that she was enforcing the rules and some students and parents took that as bullying. He confirmed that as superintendent, he was required to file charges with Teachers Standards and Practices Commission, but noted that there has been no resolution on that or on charges that have been filed by parents.

There has been a highly publicized and ongoing battle between Pettit and parents over the span of the past couple of years.
