Once again, several citizens of Jackson County addressed the Commissioners, requesting their representation. Talent residents gathered to voice their objections to a county notification for a land use permit for an asphalt plant near their homes. Floodplains, air quality, water quality, and noise were among the environmental issues concerning the residents of the neighboring mobile home park.
Four items were on the agenda of which three were unanimously approved:
1. A three-year contract with English Equipment, Inc. to inspect fire alarms at the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport.
2. A bond refunding agreement–refinancing to a lower interest rate– to be completed by May 2013.
3. A consumer price index (CPI) increase for Recology Valley View, LLC. (formerly Valley View Landfill, Inc.): 1.5 cu. yd. will now cost $15.35, an increase of 35cents.
A land sale contract was removed from the agenda. Commissioner Skundrick explained that further research was needed.
The Commissioners proclaimed April as Earthquake Awareness and Preparedness Month. Emergency Management Director, Mike Curry directed citizens to two sources of helpful information: (ready.gov) and the county website,
