Eagles softball suffers loss to Crater

The Eagle Point High School Softball team was unable to cash in on the few opportunities it had in a 3-0 loss to Crater High School on Tuesday, April 2. The Eagles had runners in scoring position in three different innings, but hit into three double plays and managed only two singles in the loss.

Comets shortstop Malorie Mitchell started all three rally killers. She also had three hits and drove in a run. Katie Britton hit a two-run home run in the 1st, but after Mitchell’s RBI in the 2nd inning, Eagles pitcher Mckinzee Merrill shut out Crater over the final four innings, allowing only three more hits.

Kenzie Nielsen and Tianna Gonsalves had singles for Eagle Point. The Eagles, now 8-3, hosted Grants Pass Saturday for a double header.

Crater outhit the Eagles 7-2 and committed no errors to the Eagles’.
