Rob Wilson of Eagle Point will be running 34.97 miles on this 9/11 to honor those who died during the September 11 attacks. He will be running the entire route carrying an American flag. The race will start at his house, proceed to the Eagle Point National Cemetery and into downtown Medford before making his way back home. Leaving Eagle Point from the cemetery then getting onto Hwy 62 and then into downtown Medford turning around somewhere near the court house and then back to Eagle Point.
“I have been asked where I came up with 34.97 miles? After getting hold of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center Board of Directors I have found out that since that day there have been other deaths related to the attacks. Some were complications to the smoke and other health issues. Even some from suicides due to PTSD.I have not included the 19 militants associated with the attacks. I tried to talk to as many people as I could before coming up with this number so if I am still incorrect then I apologize to anyone affected by this. Never forget 911.”
