A new game in town

Charlie’s is coming to Eagle Point, according to owners Autumn Axmaker and Danna Humphreys, within the next couple of weeks. The two ladies who worked together prior to forming the partnership, became friends and decided to enter into business together.

Once the decision was made to open a restaurant, they had to decide what to call it, and they settled on Charley’s because both had the nickname from years ago. Charley’s will open as both a restaurant and bar, featuring American food and some other amenities that will be somewhat new to Eagle Point.

The restaurant will offer a full menu and according to Autumn, everything on the menu will be homemade. Breakfast will feature potato pancakes, biscuits and gravy and grits among other dishes. Lunch will be burgers, sandwiches, salads and baskets. Dinner will be steaks, fried chicken, chicken fried steak dinners and all will be served with a green salad. Prime rib will be the specialty on Sundays.

Hours for Charley’s will be from 5:30 a. m. to 10 p. m. on Monday through Wednesday, Thursday hours will be 5:30 a. m. until traffic slows down, but not later than midnight. Friday and Saturday schedule will be the same opening, but hours will extend until 2:30 a. m. and then on Sundays, the schedule will be from 5:30 a. m. until 8 p. m.

Seating capacity is approximately 70 patrons in tables for two, three or four and patrons will be seated on the deep red chairs which will be throughout out the dining area and extend into the bar. The owners have petitioned OLCC to allow children into the restaurant until 9 p. m. each night.

The bar portion of the premises is partially backed by wood paneling marked with several local brands. Six beers will be on tap, enough to satisfy the palate of most local folks, but the unique part of the bar will be the smoking area behind the building. There will be room outside for many additional patrons, folks who would like to light up while having their favorite beverage. That area will be finished in either granite or sand, which will allow folks to just relax and enjoy a conversation.

Charley’s promises to have great food and a relaxed atmosphere where the owners hope folks will gather for food, refreshment and lively conversation.
