America the Trashy

America the Beautiful Trashy

Last week I sipped from my half-full glass made of glass. On the Fourth of July, most folks sipped from plastic cups and plastic water bottles, which can’t all be recycled, and many people don’t bother anyway. American summers are a time for picnics, festivals, parades, reunions, and parties, where most folks use paper and plastic. I like what my sons and their friends do—glass plates, washing them when the stack runs low. A friendly nod to our planet.
