Tax payer funded abortions

Former Arkansas governor and political activist, Mike Huckabee was the keynote speaker at the rally for Life held at the Bethel Church on January 22.  Huckabee joined several others during the presentation designed to open lines of communication between Oregon residents who are unaware of several facts concerning abortions in this state.  One fact pointed out is that abortions are tax-payer funded within Oregon, the only state to do so.  Also called into light is that young ladies may get an abortion without parental concent, yet, at the same time, they cannot even get their ears pierced without a note from mom.

So, Oregon has become the state of “death”.  Ten abortions are performed in the state every day, and since abortion has been legalized, nearly 64 million abortions have been performed in the country.  To put that number into perspective, 40 million Chinese were killed during an ethnic cleansing shortly after the Second World War, 18 million Russians died in the ethnic cleansing in the Russian Revolution, during the holocaust in Germany, 6 million Jews were killed by the third Reich in an ethnic cleansing, three million Africans were killed with machetes, no less, during an ethnic cleansing there not that many years ago.

Totaling up those numbers, puts the figure at about 67 million, and that figure, if you can justify it, is when one people declare war on another.  America’s total of 64 million is a result of the war on “life.”

Abraham Lincoln declared war on America during the civil war but he was unable to eliminate so many as has the Roe V. Wade decision of 1973.  The numbers are staggering; the total disregard for human life is appalling.

It will take me about an hour to write this editorial, during that time, perhaps hundreds of innocent victims will have died.  I write this three days before it will be published and during that time, 30 more abortions will occur in Oregon alone.

There are two main victims in this crime, the unborn baby, and the mother.  The mother may not want to carry the baby, but years down the road, she will realize that the blood of the infant will be on her hands, and there is no going back from that action.

You will find petitions throughout the state seeking to put this on the ballot as an initiative, which will block the legislature from changing, amending or refusing to take it to a hearing; one of those is at the Independent.  Please stop by and sign the petition (we are still several thousand signatures short at this time.)  Better yet, take one and have friends and church members, neighbors and friends sign it.

Oregon is not the state I grew up in and loved. It has become known as the state of “Death,”  when you throw in the physician assisted suicide. The only ones who can stop this holocaust is you and us.  Help when you can.

I cannot help but be reminded of the quote from John Donne, used as a preface to Ernest Hemingway’s classic, “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” when Donne says “Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.”  Indeed, it has tolled for the United States and the State of Oregon.  We will eventually pay the price for our actions.
