Joyce Diane Winkler passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Providence Medford Medical Center, under the loving care of her husband John R. Winkler, Sr.

Joyce was born October 20, 1932, in Gering, Neb., to Carl and Florence Genz. She moved with her parents and brother to the Pacific Northwest around 1940.

In 1959, she married Harold F. Jensen, who passed away in November 1983. In June 1985, Joyce married John Winkler, Sr; June 2010 marked their 25th year of marriage.

Joyce graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1954, with a B.A. in Education. She received her Masters of Education from Oregon State University in 1960, and began a wonderful career as an educator in Santa Barbara, Calif., Parkrose, Portland, St. Helens and Redmond, Ore. She began as a high school counselor in 1977 in Oakland, Ore., where she earned the 1981 Outstanding School Counselor of Oregon award.

Wendy Lynn Friend Jacoby, 49, of  Eagle Point, died Sept. 1, 2010 at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
